Demographics
Luzhou is a settle land for 40 nationalities, among which Han Chinese is the majority, accounting for 98.47% and 1.26% are Miao people which is the major one of the 39 minority groups including Yi, Hui, Manchu, Tujia and Mongol etc. By the end of 2004, the registered population had reached 4.73 million and the birth rate was 10.62‰, mortality rate 8.98‰, natural growth 1.64‰.

Climate Resources
Being rich in heat, precipitation and sunshine, Luzhou boasts a agreeable combination of light, heat, water as well as a long vegetation growth period, which provides a favorable ecological condition for all-round development of agriculture, forestry, fishery.

Land Resources
Luzhou covers an area of around 12246.87 sq km, 1.2243 million ha, of which cultivated land is 471,400 hectares, woodland 418,800 hectares, garden plot 3,100 hectares, grassland 3,710 hectares, water area 6,740 hectares, factory and quarry land 6,240 hectares, traffic land 3,220 hectares and undeveloped land 10,670 hectares. The output of main agriculture products is in fold increase each year and rapid growth is seen in industry, urbanization, transport, trade and business, accelerating diverse operations in commerce and economic return continually.

Water Resources
The yearly direct runoff rate is 5.585 billion steer; the reserves of groundwater,1.063 billion steer; and the exploitable groundwater resource, 0.425 billion steer. The progress of water conservancy construction provides guarantee for water and soil conservation, reducing the destruction of flow and the economic and social development of the whole country.

Wildlife Resources
Luzhou is famous for its superior natural environment and diverse resources. Agriculture and poultry husbandry are thriving. Paddy, lichen, and long an are in production. Woodland covers 4.18 million ha, accounting for 34.21% of the total land and the living wood reserve is 8.108 million steer. Besides, Luzhou is also a store of over 46 kinds of rare and precious plants, such as dove tree, met sequoia, Cyathea spinulosa wall, Henry emmenopherys etc. and 1444 sorts of traditional Chinese medicinal materials like cortex eucommiae, fructose citric sarcodactyi, Gastonia elate Blame etc. Additionally, more than 18 rare species live in this land, including Chinese sturgeon, paddlefish, macaque etc. Over 400 kinds of animalcule have been discovered in the cellar of Luzhou Lao Jiao, which are used to brew the unique liquor.
